Markets
Most towns, and many large villages, have weekly markets. It's possible to visit a different market each day of the week without travelling far from Larroque.
The market is an essential part of French life. You will see people greeting friends with the traditional 2 or 3 kisses, and then embarking on lengthy conversations, shopping being only one of the reasons for their coming to the market
Depending on the size of the market, you will be able to find everything from underwear not seen since your grandmother's day to fashion clothing, frighteningly lethal hunting knives to children's toys and of course, a wonderful range of fresh produce.
The whole experience is a riot of colour, chatter and wonderful cooking smells from the stalls selling cooked chicken and pork.
In summer many places (including nearby Prayssas) hold night markets where you can shop and then buy your supper from one or more of the food stalls. Eat your meal with a glass of wine or beer in the village square, or bring it back to Larroque to enjoy on your terrace.
Add to the above the various speciality markets, the prune fairs, antique markets, vide greniers (like a British car boot sale), farmers markets, tomato festival ----- and you will appreciate you could devote an entire holiday to visiting the markets.
