Rivers and lakes
Larroque lies between the Lot and Garonne rivers, and within easy driving distance of the Dordogne and Tarn rivers.
You are also close to the Canal des Deux Mers, which is in fact two canals; the Canal Lateral a la Garonne which runs across the south of the region and the better known Canal du Midi running further east. Take a cycle ride along the banks to see the varied flora and fauna of the waterway. Today the canal has tourist boats rather than the commercial traffic for which it was built.
There are endless opportunities for 'messing about in boats' from leisurely river cruises to canoeing over rapids. The Lot is navigable from Aiguillon in the west to Lustrac in the east. Between the two are many places to hire boats, take a passenger boat, hire a pedalo, canoe or kayak and even water ski. There are also river beaches, some with lifeguards during the season, and water sports centres.
There are lakes with guarded bathing at Lougratte, Penne d'Agenais and, very close to Larroque, at Prayssas. Just along the road in Lacepede is Salabert Lake where swimming is not allowed but there are wonderful walks around the lake and wildlife reserve.
Add to these the several local swimming pools, and our own pool, and you have a variety of watery delights.
